BUSINESS INSURANCE RANKS INTRACORP FIRST IN CASE MANAGEMENT FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

PHILADELPHIA, March 1, 2005—For the sixth consecutive year, Intracorp has been named the nation's leading case management services provider by Business Insurance magazine in their annual ranking published February 28.

Intracorp, celebrating its 35th year in case management, coordinated care for nearly 1.4 million individuals in 2004 with a staff of more than 2,400 nurses. "Our vast and highly experienced staff of nurses, physicians and vocational counselors provides individualized and effective case management solutions for our customers," said Ken Ross, Intracorp president. "Our nurses' primary role is one of patient advocate, helping individuals get the care they need to get well, stay well and be productive."

Intracorp's services are an integral part of the industry-leading medical and disability case management CIGNA provides to its health and disability customers, and that Intracorp provides directly to employers and to third-party administrators.

For the purposes of the ranking, Business Insurance defines case management as coordinating and monitoring treatment for catastrophic, complex or prolonged illnesses and injuries -- including discharge planning, case review provided by telephone or on site at the employer's location, and/or patient referrals -- as well as managing communication among patients, providers, carriers and TPAs throughout the course of a health, disability or workers' compensation claim.

Intracorp's case managers, most of whom are registered nurses and vocational rehabilitation specialists, work in conjunction with treating physicians to coordinate appropriate, quality care; ensure patient satisfaction, improve medical outcomes, facilitate the patient's timely and sustained return to work, maximize benefit allocations, and decrease overall health care expenses.

Intracorp reports its earnings under the Life and Disability segment of CIGNA Corporation, along with the CIGNA Group Insurance division. With more than 4,000 employees, Intracorp provides quality, cost-effective health and disability case management services to 28 million employees of companies nationwide.

"Intracorp laid the groundwork for case management, having initiated these services 35 years ago," said Ross. "Being recognized by Business Insurance for the sixth year in a row clearly demonstrates our dedication to finding innovative and patient-focused ways to help people recover from disabilities and return to work safely and productively."

Business Insurance is an industry publication that reports on corporate risk, employee benefits and managed health care issues. The annual case management survey profiles companies that deliver case management services for group health and workers' compensation programs directly to corporate or institutional employers. The ranking is based on gross revenues generated by case management services.
