Intracorp Utilization Management for Workers' Comp Gains Full Accreditation from URAC

PHILADELPHIA, April 16, 2008 — Intracorp announced today that its nationwide utilization management program for workers' compensation was awarded full Utilization Management Accreditation by URAC, a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry. The Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management standards address the unique characteristics of workers’ compensation utilization management and ensure quality oversight for this fast growing area of managed care.

In order to meet URAC accreditation standards, Intracorp was required to complete a comprehensive application followed by a rigorous onsite review process to evaluate quality and efficiency. The review process included staff interviews, case file audits and a review of regulatory compliance.

“The dedication of our highly skilled nurses, case managers and medical directors enable us to consistently provide our customers with outstanding service," says T. Mark Farrell, president of Intracorp. "We are pleased to be recognized by URAC for our efforts."

Now in its 38th year of operation, Intracorp helps employers enhance productivity and reduce benefit costs. Intracorp’s case managers, most of whom are registered nurses and vocational rehabilitation specialists, work with physicians to coordinate appropriate, quality care, ensure patient satisfaction, help improve medical outcomes, facilitate an individual’s timely return to work and reduce overall health care costs.

“Intracorp should be commended for meeting strict quality standards,” said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and chief executive officer. “It is critically important for health care organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment.”

About URAC: URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization, is a leader in promoting health care quality through accreditation and certification programs.
